Turn our Home Energy Check-ups into easy fundraisers for your PTO or nonprofit

Stony Point Elementary’s PTO in central Virginia raised $530. Johnson’s PTO $250. Jackson-Via’s PTO is on track to raise $600. And Cale’s PTO has set a goal of $1,000. And they are helping their parents and area residents save energy and money at the same time.

How?

With Home Energy Check-ups performed by LEAP.

Stony Point PTO Check

Stony Point PTO receives their check for $530

It’s simple. LEAP partners with a PTO (other nonprofits, too!), the PTO helps spread the word about the Check-ups in the neighborhoods their school serves, and LEAP donates $10 for every Check-up in those neighborhoods during the pre-scheduled weeks. This week we’re in Fry’s Spring and the Jackson-Via district and in late January we’ll be in the Cale Elementary area.

Blocks are open for other interested PTOs and nonprofits in central and northern Virginia. To get involved, email info@leap-va.org or call 434.249.9817 or 703.642.4647.

What’s involved with the Check-up?

Here’s the deal. A LEAP Energy Coach comes to your house, does a basic walk-through, suggests potential home energy improvements and local contractors, installs — at no additional cost — energy efficient light bulbs, power strips and door weatherization. It’s all part of Dominion’s Home Energy Check-up program (LEAP is a Participating Contractor). The $45 Home Energy Check-up performed by LEAP is the first step to a healther, more comfortable home with lower energy bills (who doesn’t want a cozy home and low bills during the winter momths?) and higher value. These Check-ups have been a huge hit since we started offering them in October. Already LEAP has completed more than 200 Check-ups in the Charlottesville area alone. We keep the schedule updated here or you can go straight to our easy online scheduler.
