From the Desk of the Executive Director
What a roller-coaster the last couple of months have been. The new “normal” does seem to be settling in, and I’m happy to report that all of our programming is now fully available – with extra safety precautions, of course!
What do we mean by ‘extra safety precautions’? For our home energy assessments, we now screen clients prior to their appointment and ask them to sequester themselves in a location of their home (or leave the home) while our analyst performs the assessment. This is being done in order to eliminate any direct interaction while indoors. Also, all of our team working out of their homes are wearing masks, gloves, washing hands, and sanitizing equipment per CDC and other state-level guidance to keep themselves and our clients safe. Crew members feeling ill or reporting potential or known contact with an infected individual will be sent for testing and put on paid leave until their test results come back.
As more people continue working from home and/or not leaving home to protect the health of themselves and others, we do anticipate increased demand for our assessments and weatherization programs to make their homes more comfortable and lower their energy bills. Thus, if you’re looking to take advantage of our services, we do request that you not wait to schedule appointments or request work, as we are starting to see a backlog in our ability to provide more services.
Finally, I’m excited to announce that we will be collaborating with Community Housing Partners to offer new energy-saving services to Washington Gas customers in Northern Virginia. This will be another great program that we can “stack”, or combine, with the Dominion programs we already provide to homeowners, ensuring you receive maximum energy savings when you invite us into your home.
Stay safe,
Chris Meyer, Executive Director of LEAP
