Expanded GreenMatters Workshop Series at ecoREMOD Announced

Going Green Does Matter!

June 6, 2011, Charlottesville, VA – In partnership with the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP), the Blue Ridge Home Builders Association (BRHBA) will extend and enhance its GreenMatters Workshops, presented by UVA Community Credit Union.

GreenMatters is series of residential workshops designed to help educate and inform the public on a variety of green building and design principles.

“In addition to green building, the seminars will also provide local residents and property owners easy access to information and resources that will help create more energy efficient, healthy and comfortable homes,” said Jim Kuznar, Executive Vice President of BRHBA.

The series recognizes the significant impact the “built environment” has on our natural environment, economy, and health.

“LEAP is excited to be part of a powerful team of community partners, and we are proud to host these events at ecoREMOD: The Energy House, a space designed for interactive and informative sessions,” said Cynthia Adams, Executive Director of the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP). “From renewable energy options to water conservation to cost savings by season, these workshops will give Charlottesville area residents the tools they need for healthier, more comfortable and affordable homes.”

A majority of the workshops will be held at ecoREMOD: The Energy House, however additional workshops will take place at various UVA Community Credit Union locations.

“We’re proud to partner with BRHBA and LEAP to harness their expertise in bringing this series of residential workshops to our community.  Promoting thrift – in this case, saving on energy bills – and providing education on how best to do this are cornerstones of our not-for-profit philosophy,” said Alison DeTuncq, President/CEO, UVA Community Credit Union.
