Partner to Bring the Radio Disney® Team Green Game Show, PowerSaver Edition
to Charlottesville’s Safe Halloween Festival
October 22, 2012 Charlottesville, VA. The City of Charlottesville and UVA Community Credit Union have partnered to present the Radio Disney® Team Green Game Show, PowerSaver Edition on Saturday, October 27 from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. during the Safe Halloween Festival on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall.
“I’m really excited about this!” said Bernie Garrison, Athletic Manager for Charlottesville Parks & Recreation and organizer of the Charlottesville’s Safe Halloween Festival.“This is a fun family way to support the City’s efforts to help residents learn about home energy efficiency to reduce their energy bills, and promote our Energize!250 Campaign, while bringing quality, family entertainment to our Safe Halloween Festival.”
The Energize!250 effort is an adjunct campaign to Celebrate!250 Charlottesville. Sponsored by the City of Charlottesville, the Local Energy Alliance Program(LEAP), and UVA Community Credit Union, the campaign’s goal is to help 250 City of Charlottesville homeowners conduct home energy reviews and pledge to reduce their home energy usage by 10% by year end.
Making its third appearance since the introduction of the UVA Community Credit Union’s PowerSaver Loan Program, the hugely popular, family game show has families compete for prizes while learning about energy-saving home improvements and PowerSaver Loans. “We hope to help families take on spooky, drafty homes and monstrous, high energy bills at this Halloween event” said Alison DeTuncq,president of UVA Community Credit Union. “We’re always looking for fun opportunities to provide education to help families learn ways to save money, and this game show at this Safe Halloween Festival hits the mark.”
In addition to the game show, representatives from the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP), including the renowned local “House Doctor,” and UVA Community Credit Union will be in attendance to provide information on the Energize!250 campaign. City of Charlottesville residents can sign up on the spot for one of the few remaining Energize!250 home energy reviews ($100 value for only $25 courtesy of the City of Charlottesville).
Homeowners in the City of Charlottesville and its surrounding seven counties can also enter to win a free comprehensive home energy assessment performed by LEAP (valued at $500) at the event.
Sponsored by the City of Charlottesville Parks and Recreation, The Safe Halloween Festival is free and runs from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27 at the Charlottesville Downtown Mall and the nTelos Wireless Pavilion. Other activities include carnival games, slides, face and pumpkin painting, an AirRaid Juggling Exhibition, a costume contest and trick-or-treating.
