Charlottesville, VA – UVA Community Credit Union and The Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) announce the official start of the 2013 PowerSaver Home Makeover Contest. Prizes include one entrant winning a $10,000 PowerSaver Home Makeover and two entrants winning a $5,000 PowerSaver Home Makeover. Additionally, 10 finalists will win a professional Home Energy Assessment (estimated value is $500). Entries will be accepted through May 31 with additional details at www.PowerSaverMakeover.org.
“We’re happy to co-sponsor the PowerSaver Home Makeover Contest,” says Alison DeTuncq, President/CEO of UVA Community Credit Union. “The Contest is a great way to increase awareness of the benefits energy-efficient home improvements can provide above and beyond saving energy such as healthier and more comfortable homes, improved property values, more money in homeowners’ pockets, and a cleaner environment for our community.”
“This Contest is a unique and exciting opportunity for the Central Virginia community to learn more about their homes, as well as the different local programs available to help them save money on energy bills,” said Cynthia Adams, Executive Director of LEAP and co-sponsor of the PowerSaver Home Makeover Contest. “Through this program and Contest, it’s easy to increase the value of homes through repairs or upgrades.”
Additional support for the 2013 PowerSaver Home Makeover Contest is also provided by Dominion Virginia Power and Rappahannock Electric Cooperative.
“This is the second time we’ve partnered with the credit union to bring free energy makeovers to Central Virginia residents. We’re looking forward to even bigger success than our 2011 Contest, as more and more homeowners understand the many benefits an energy efficient property gives them,” said Adams.
