New: Solarize Charlottesville program starts July 1

Starting July 1, solar power might become more affordable than for residents of Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

Solarize Charlottesville one of three programs offered in Virginia that provides free assessments of home energy efficiency and the potential for homeowners to install solar paneling, according to its website. The program is run by LEAP, a Charlottesville-based nonprofit organization that specializes in helping home and business owners make their buildings more efficient. While LEAP’s assistance usually comes with a fee, the Solarize program offers assessments to anyone who signs up.
