CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (June 10, 2015) – Local residents looking for better ways to understand their energy bills and how they can save money now have an exciting new resource: the “Energize!Charlottesville Energy Center“.
The “Energy Center” is an easy-to-use, free, online platform from WattzOn, offered to Charlottesville residents in support of the local Energize!Charlottesville campaign to save energy and win the $5 million Georgetown University Energy Prize. The “Energy Center” is useful and relevant for both home owners and renters.
The “Energy Center” is launched through a partnership of the City of Charlottesville, the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP), and WattzOn, a leading provider of web and mobile engagement tools that help people save energy, water and money. WattzOn will support the Energize!Charlottesville program with utility data tracking, engagement tools, and resident activity reporting.
LEAP will give away prizes of approximately $50-$100 in value through a drawing of residents who create “Energy Center” accounts by July 4. One household in each City neighborhood can win a free home energy assessment, with 5 additional winners receiving the free energy assessment plus LED light bulbs.
Residents can access the Energize!Charlottesville Energy Center today atenergizecharlottesville.org/energycenter and:
- Visually compare their energy bills to past use and similar homes
- Get energy saving tips customized for their home
- Set up auto-import for their utility bills to easily be able to track energy and money savings

Partnering with WattzOn moves us closer to that objective by adding an online engagement platform and data tracking that residents can use to understand their choices.”
