News: Dominion program offers energy savings to needy homeowners

So much heat seeps through the walls that plates from the cabinet feel as if they’re fresh from the dishwasher at the Wilson home on Texas Avenue in Richmond.

And in the winter, the kitchen stays cold regardless of the heater setting in the 65-year-old, 1,000-square-foot house Marjorie Wilson shares with her two sons and a granddaughter.

That’s about to change. Workers are adding insulation, sealing air leaks and making other repairs meant to save the family as much as 30 percent on their monthly bills as part of an expanded Dominion Virginia Power grant program being rolled out across the state as required by state law.
