PowerSaver Loan Program from UVA Community Credit Union (Ending May 2015. Apply by April 30 to qualify)
Learn more about this no closing cost, low-interest loan program. These loans provide a less expensive alternative to traditional financing for homeowners who live or work in the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson and Orange.
Limited-time Loan Rate Reduction Program (City of Charlottesville only)
Available on a first-come, first-served basis, City of Charlottesville residents may take advantage rates as low as 0% on a PowerSaver loan through the UVA Community Credit Union when they use one of LEAP’s local ENERGY STAR contractors to make energy efficiency improvements or add renewables to their home. Energy Efficient Building Special Tax Rate (City of Charlottesville only)
Properties that have been awarded the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR certificate qualify for the Special Tax Rate. To earn the certificate, your improvements must be projected to improve your energy efficiency by 20% or more, confirmed by modeling software. The Special Tax Rate is a one-time 50% real estate tax abatement (on building only), which is available to applicants the next calendar year after their application is received and approved by the City. Dominion Home Programs
Dominion Virginia Power offers several energy efficiency rebate programs for all-electric homes (i.e. natural gas, propane or oil is not your primary heating fuel). These rebates are available through Dominion’s participating contractors.
Smart Cooling Rewards
Homeowner receives $40 for cycling A/C on high use days
Income-Qualifying Home Improvement
Energy audit and improvements for income-qualifying homeowners
Heat Pump Tune-Up
Rebate of $90 for maintenance tune-up of existing units
Heat Pump Upgrade
Rebate of $200 – $250 for upgrading to more efficient heat pump unit
Duct Testing & Sealing – Homeowner receives $125 for having poorly performing duct & air distribution systems tested and repaired
$100 for installation of a programmable thermostat
$100 when replacing an electric water heater with a high efficiency gas one
10% tax federal credit up to $500 for eligible energy efficiency improvements
