Local Businesses Eco-Educate And Spread Good Green Fun at the Cville Go Green Fest

The Third Annual Cville Go Green Fest will take place on Saturday, September 14th from 10am to 2pm at Snow’s Garden Center 1875 Avon Street Extended just South of the City of Charlottesville.  Intrastate Pest Control, Dixon Disposal and Snow’s Garden Center along with Monticello Media’s HitKicker 99.7 are sponsoring this event to increase our communities’ eco-awareness.  Local green businesses have been invited to participate in this non-political event so they might share their own eco-friendly practices and give attendees a well-rounded Eco-Education on ways to save energy, live healthy and reduce their impact on the earth.  This year’s participants include LEAP (Local Energy Alliance), RideShare, Dominion GREEN Power, Urban Agriculture Collective of Charlottesville (UACC), Dansey Heating and Air, Blue Ridge Graphics, Tycoon Tackle, The Barkery & Catfe, Charlottesville Tomorrow, Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA, Monticello Health Solutions, and The FertilityCare™ Center of Charlottesville

The Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA will bring by their ‘recycled adoptable companions’ and Bounce-N-Play will present their bounce-n-slide attraction for the kids.  There will be balloon-animal art for the kids from Freckles n Friends plus professional “green-themed” facepainting.  In addition, UVA’s Cav Man has agreed to take time to visit during his busy football schedule.  We’ll have Slice Pizza, Pepsi Products, great give-aways and lots eco-themed education and fun.  All-In-One-Can Recyclers, Dixon Disposal; Eco-Friendly Pest Treaters, Intrastate Pest Control; and long-time green-thumbers, Snow’s Garden Center have joined forces to bring eco-enlightenment to Charlottesville.  “Recycling isn’t the only thing we can do to protect our future Earth,” said Mike Dixon.  “It’s very important that we reduce our waste and reuse items as often as possible.”  Corbin Snow, from the 4th generation of Snow’s who have operated their local Garden Center and Landscaping Service for more than 100 years stated, “Protecting the Earth for future generations is essential.”  “Easier ways exist; we just need to be educated.”

Intrastate Pest, Snow’s Garden and Dixon Disposal are all committed to supporting their community, so, with encouragement from their mutual marketing company, Creative Juices, they started an annual tradition.  “It’s encouraging how many local businesses utilize eco-friendly practices,” said Denise Hood, owner of Creative Juices Marketing and the event coordinator.  “We want everyone to see how easy it can be to GO GREEN.”  “We have a terrific group of folks who will educate you on everything from saving energy in your home to the benefits of catch and release fishing!”  “This year, we’re lucky enough to have local broadcasters Monticello Media as our partner, making spreading the eco-news to the community even easier.”

The Cville Go Green Fest is scheduled for Saturday, September 14th from 10-2.  Snows Garden Center is located just South of Charlottesville at 1875 Avon Street Extended.  Visit cvillegogreen.com for more information, a list of participating businesses and daily Eco-blogs.
