News: Compost program to continue during winter at McIntire
If you’re seeking to shrink your home’s carbon footprint, you may want to consider making regular visits to the McIntire Road Recycling Center for its new seasonal composting program. In addition to helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions, you could potentially be removing foul odors, ants and fruit flies from your kitchen.
Almost two months after the city of Charlottesville reached the end of its pilot compost program at the City Market, the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority this month agreed to start its own composting program at its recycling center on McIntire Road.
The program will run from January to the end of March — shortly before the City Market is back in season.
