Happy Leap Year: 29 Ways LEAP Helps Our Local Communities

Since 2010 LEAP:

  1. Has served 5,600+ families directly with our energy efficiency and solar programs
  2. And educated, informed and empowered thousands more to take control of their energy bills
  3. Supports local businesses and economic development through initiatives like the Better Business Challenge and Charlottesville Clean Energy Loan FundL1100069
  4. Supports clean energy future with our Solarize programs with 1,293 kw installed
  5. Assists low-income families struggling to make ends meet by lowering energy bills
  6. Works in partnership with local governments to help meet local climate and energy goals
  7. Helps educate and inform home and business owners on energy options with workshops, community presentations and online resourcesguy at ecofair
  8. Improves the indoor air quality and safety of homes so that families can breathe clean air
  9. Brings programs like Dominion’s Home Energy Check-Ups and EnergyShare weatherization to our communities
  10. Partners with the City of Charlottesville’s Energize!Charlottesville program in the Georgetown University Energy Prize competition
  11. Brings down the price of and obstacles to solar power with 195 solar installations in our Solarize programs
  12. Helps home and business owners and entire communities reduce their carbon footprint 
  13. Lowers operating costs for business and property owners
  14. Lee in Front of HouseForms unique, local partnerships with businesses, nonprofits and other entities
  15. Trains and certifies the local workforce in home performance industry best practices
  16. Transforms neighborhoods with Block by Block campaigns
  17. Helps improve energy code compliance in new and existing buildings
  18. Grows the number of electric vehicles in our community
  19. Works with state government to gather and analyze crucial industry data
  20. Helps local colleges and universities meet their carbon neutral goals
  21. Enhances longevity of historic structures with energy improvements that reduce mold and moisture 
  22. Helps educate youth on energy saving measures with classroom presentations and tours of ecoREMODLesley pointing at celing (1)
  23. Offers home performance consulting services to assist homeowners with developing and executing energy savings plans
  24. Worked with the local real estate community to have energy efficiency added to MLS listings, helping homeowners capture the value of their home energy improvements
  25. Generated thousands of dollars for PTOs and nonprofits through fundraising campaigns
  26. Saved 18.01 gigawatts of energy to date
  27. Removes cost barriers to home energy upgrades with rebates and low-interest financing through partnerships with institutions like the UVA Community Credit Union and their PowerSaver LoansHearthwood yard sign Nov2015
  28. Awarded several comprehensive home energy retrofits through our Home Energy Makeover Contests
  29. Achieved national recognition from the White House Council on Environmental Quality, the Department of Energy and Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance for our innovative programs

While some of our activities earn revenue, they do not cover all of the costs to fully maintain the organization and to effectively execute our mission. Your tax-deductible donation helps keep this feisty, local non-profit alive and well to continue this work across Virginia.
